Samuel es un ternero que nació hace 6 días en una explotación lechera, que nada más nacer fue apartado de su madre y encerrado en una jaula junto con su hermano gemelo, para que no se bebieran la leche que iba a ser vendida a los humanos.
Los dos hermanos estaban muy débiles con diarreas con sangre, y como no era rentable ni tan siquiera para ser enviado al matadero, nos avisaron por si lo queríamos.
Al llegar a la granja lechera vimos a Samuel que estaba junto a su hermano gemelo en la misma jaula. Nos dieron a elegir entre los dos y ese fue uno de los momentos más duros que hemos vivido, ya que al que se dejaba iba a tener un mal final.
Al entrar en la jaula Ismael López, uno de los fundadores del Santuario, acarició a Samuel para pedirle perdón porque lo iba a dejar allí y solo nos podíamos llevar a uno, a su hermano.
En el momento en que Ismael fue a coger a su hermano, Samuel se levantó y quiso escapar de la jaula. Una señal que nos facilitaba a quien teníamos que llevarnos, era como si ya lo tuvieran pactado, su hermano ni nos quiso mirar cuando le quisimos coger, como cediendo su puesto a Samuel.

Samuel is a bull calf born 6 days ago in a dairy farm. He was separated from her mum as soon as he was born and caged on a crate along with his twin brother. This way they wouldn’t drink their mother’s milk meant to be for human consumption.
Both brothers were very weak and suffered from bloody diarrhoea. They weren’t profitable at all, not even suitable to be sent to the slaughterhouse. They call us to asked us if we wanted him.
Upon our arrival to the farm we saw Samuel along with his twin brother sharing the same crate. The farmers asked us to choose one of them. It was one of the hardest decisions in our lives because we were aware that the one left behind would face a sad ending.
When Ismael López, co-founder of the Sanctuary, got into the crate, cuddled Samuel and asked him for forgiveness because he was going to be left there as we could only take one, his brother.
Then, when Ismael was about to pick up Samuel’s brother, Samuel stood up and tried to get out from the crate. That was like a sign telling us which one had to be rescued. It was as if they had an agreement on that. His brother didn’t even looked at us when we tried to get him, as if he was giving his place up to Samuel.
