Os presentamos a Mari Carmen, una cabra que fue abandonada hace dos años embarazada. Cuando el cabrito nació y creció. la dejó embarazada de nuevo. Acosados por los cazadores furtivos, el carnero desapareció.
Cuando nació su nuevo hijo, a los pocos días se lo quitaron para comérselo, y a ella la ataron con un cordón de zapato desde una extremidad delantera a la trasera, en un barranco impidiendo que se pudiera mover. El cordón poco a poco s ele fue incrustando en la carne, lo que le ha provocado una atrofia de la extremidad trasera. Además, al quitarle a su hijo, y no poder amamantarlo, tiene una grave mastitis (inflamación de las mamas).
Los mossos de esquadra al enterarse de la noticia fueron a por ella, pero los vecinos de la zona del Castell de Mediona que la encontraron en esta lamentable situación ya la habían rescatado y habían avisado a un veterinario. A los pocos días se pusieron en contacto con nosotros. Queremos darles las gracias a Jesús, Ramón y Consol por salvarle la vida.
Aunque en breve tenemos que dejar los terrenos donde estamos, hoy hemos dejado de buscar terrenos para hacer el viaje de 4 horas para ir a por Mari Carmen. Hay casos a los que hay que decir que si. Ahora estará las primeras semanas en cuarentena en la habitación de los fundadores del Santuario, que le ayudará a crear vínculo con ellos y ver que no todos los humanos son iguales.

MARI CARMEN, A GOAT LEFT ABANDONED AND TIED ON A CLIFF
Meet Mari Carmen, a goat who was abandoned two years ago when she was pregnant. She gave birth to a kid that grew up and made her pregnant again. The billy dissapeared after being chased by poachers.
Just a few days after her second kid was born, he was taken away from her and slaughtered for food. Then she had her front leg tied to the back one by a shoelace, left on a cliff unable to move. The lace eventually got encrustred on the flesh, and this has produced an atrophy on her back limb. On top of that, she’s suffering a severe mastitis (breast infection) because she could not breastfeed her son.
Upon becoming aware of the situation, the Mossos de Escuadra (local police) went to rescue her, but the local people from Castell de Mediona had already taking her to the vet after finding her in such a terrible condition and her subsequent rescue. Few days later they got in contact with us. We’d like to thank Jesús, Ramón and Consol for saving her life.
Soon we’ll have to leave the land we currently rent, but today we’ve put aside the search for the new property and have made a 4 hour-journey to collect Mari Carmen instead. There’re special cases where you can’t say no. She will spend the first few weeks in quarantine, in the founders of the Sanctuary’ bedroom. This will also aid her to develop a bond with them and to realise that no all humans are the same.
