Los cerditos supervivientes del accidente de camión ya están en el nuevo Santuario
Esta mañana hemos traído a Leticia, Xita y Raúl, los tres cerditos que sobrevivieron al terrible accidente de camión de Cenicero (La Rioja) que los llevaba al matadero, y en el que murieron 650 cerditos. Leticia tenía la cadera y el fémur roto y Xita una fractura de Tibia, de la que fueron intervenidas y ya están recuperadas.
Cuando sucedió el accidente de camión no podíamos traerlos al Santuario por el problema que teníamos con el espacio, ya que habíamos perdido los terrenos, pero no podíamos darle la espalda y como teníamos la esperanza de encontrar un lugar mejor, las acogimos. Durante todo este tiempo han vivido en una caseta, que les ha servido también para recuperarse de sus operaciones.
Hoy ha sido muy emocionante para todos este traslado, en el que se han vivido momentos muy emocionantes que hemos captado con estas fotografías y un vídeo que mañana subiremos. Ahora estarán un tiempo en un espacio de adaptación para que se vayan acostumbrando a Ramón, Guillem y cuando vengan el resto de los cerdos.

The piglets who survived the lorry accident have already arrived to the new Sanctuary.
This morning, Leticia, Xita and Raúl were moved to the new Sanctuary. They’re the three piglets rescued from the lorry accident in Cenicero (La Rioja). The accident took place on their way to the slaughterhouse. 650 piglets died. Leticia had the hip and femur broken, and Xita a shinbone fractured. Them both had surgery and are fully recovered now.
When the accident took place, we couldn’t shelter them in the Sanctuary due to space limitations after losing the land we had rented. However we could not turn a blind eye and as we were hopeful we could find a better place, we took them in. They have been living in a hut since their arrival. This has also helped in their recovery from surgery.
The relocation has been very exciting for everyone. Plenty of thrilling moments have been lived. The piglets will be staying in the adaptation area for a while so that they get used to Ramón and Guillem and the other pigs when they arrive.
