Cuando acogimos en el Santuario a Xita, Leticia y Raúl, los tres cerditos supervivientes de un accidente de camión que hubo en La Rioja, el cual los llevaba al matadero, no teníamos espacio para ellos, al igual que nos ocurrió con Ramón y Guillem, los dos supervivientes de las inundaciones del Ebro a su paso por Zaragoza.
Los acogimos pensando en que un día encontraríamos un nuevo lugar mucho más grande donde mudarnos, pero hasta ahora han estado todos separados de los 9 cerdos que ya había en el Santuario.
Desde que los hemos traído a todos al nuevo terreno, los peques y los dos grandullones están en un espacio de adaptación, por el que están en contacto con los demás cerdos a través de una valla, para que se vayan conociendo y así un día poderlos juntar a todos.
Hoy hemos comenzado a sacar a ratitos a los tres pequeñines, y hemos vivido momentos muy emotivos, porque ha ido muy bien. Durante los próximos días volveremos a hacer lo mismo hasta que estemos completamente seguros que ya pueden estar juntos, entonces comenzaremos a hacer lo mismo con Ramón y Guillem.

Getting the Sanctuary babies adapted
When we took Xita, Leticia and Raúl in the Sanctuary we didn’t have the space to shelter them. They were three piglets who had survived a lorry accident in La Rioja on their way to the slaughterhouse. The same happened with Ramón and Guillem, two survivors from the Ebro floods in Zaragoza.
We took them in thinking that one day we would find a much bigger place to relocate to. Until now, they’ve been kept apart from the other 9 pigs who lived in the Sanctuary prior to their arrival.
Since we moved to the new Sanctuary, the babies and the two big guys are in an adaptation enclosure. They keep contact with the other pigs through a wire fence. This will allow them to get to know each other and soon them all will be able to live together.
Today we have started to let the three babies out during short periods of time. It’s gone extremely well and we’ve live very heart-melting moments. During the next few days we’ll carry on with the same procedure until we’re completely sure that they can be together. Then we’ll do the same with Ramón and Guillém.
