Hace unos días os contábamos la llegada de los nuevos habitantes de Santuario Gaia: 11 preciosos pollitos broiler. Estas bolitas de algodón habían sido rescatadas de un laboratorio donde se enfrentaban a un futuro amargo. Ahora vivirán su vida libres y felices en Santuario Gaia.
¿Quieres ayudarnos con su cuidado? Para los que queráis colaborar hemos creado “Apadrina un pollito para Pascua”. El apadrinamiento es un único pago de 12€. Ellos reciben los cuidados necesarios durante un mes y tú (o a quien lo regales) recibirás: un certificado de apadrinamiento personalizado con una foto exclusiva, la ficha del habitante que has adoptado y una ficha con información y datos curiosos sobre la especie.
Los pollos de la raza broiler han sido genéticamente seleccionados para crecer muy deprisa. Con 41 días, son tan solo unos bebés y pían como pollitos, pero ya son enviados al matadero porque su cuerpo ha alcanzado el tamaño de adultos. Esto les ocasiona fallos en sus órganos internos e infecciones respiratorias, y tienden a desarrollar problemas en sus extremidades debido al sobrepeso genético que sufren.
Los nuevos pollitos que ya forman parte del Santuario llegarán a desarrollar los problemas propios de su especie, pero aquí recibirán los cuidados necesarios para que lleven una vida digna y disfruten de ella al máximo. ¡Con vuestra ayuda lo haremos posible!

Sponsor Floquet and his sibblings this Easter – Easter arrives at Gaia Sanctuary
A few days ago we informed you about the arrival of Gaia Sanctuary new residents: 11 beautiful broiler chicks. These “cotton balls” had been rescued from a lab where they were facing a very sad future. Now they’ll be free to enjoy a happy life at the Sanctuary.
Would you like to help us with their care? For those of you who want to contribute we´ve created “Sponsor a chick this Easter”. The sponsoring is a one-off payment of 12€. This money covers their care for a month and you (or whoever you give it as a gift) will get: a personalised sponsoring certificate with a unique picture, info about the resident you’ve adopted and a curious facts sheet with info about the species.
Broiler chickens have been genetically selected to grow up very fast. With just 41 days of life, they’re just babies and tweet as little chicks, but are sent to the slaughterhouse because they’ve already reached adult size. This genetical overweight causes them internal organ failure and respiratory infections as well as problems on their legs.
These new chicks who are already part of the Sanctuary will doubtlessly develop the characteristic illnesses of their species, but here they’ll get the necessary care to enjoy their lives to the full. We can make it possible with your support.
