Samuel almost dies during surgery.
As a result of the posture he had to keep during the hernia surgery, air had built up in the rumen area. This prevented him from breathing properly, to the point that his tongue had even turned blue. At this point we all thought that he could not get over it and would eventually die.
Thanks to the vet’s quick reaction his life has been saved. He’s made a small incision on the upper part which has released the compressed air and avoided further pressure to the area.
It has been a very hard moment, really nerve-racking, but he’s fine now. We’re just waiting for the anesthesia and epidural effects to wear off.
He’ll require special care now and won’t be able to play or run much. In three months time we’ll find out if the hernia surgery has been a success.
We’d like to thank the vet Salva from Centre Veterinary in Malleu and Deborah AJ Parris for her assistance. Also thanks to you all for your good thoughts and wishes.
