Hoy hace un año que David llegó al Santuario

HOY HACE UN AÑO QUE DAVID LLEGÓ AL SANTUARIO

Su madre iba a venir al Santuario porque la enviaban al matadero, pero conseguimos convencer al ganadero para que no lo hiciera de inmediato y esperara a que tuviésemos el vallado preparado. Tres días antes de la fecha prevista de su llegada al Santuario, dio a luz a David y a otro más que murió al nacer, y a las pocas horas murió ella también.

El ganadero nos avisó al día siguiente por la noche de lo sucedido. A las 4 de la madrugada nos fuimos rápidamente a por él. Fue todo tan rápido y con tanta preocupación por salvarlo, huérfano y sin haber comido aún nada, que no vimos que no teníamos gasolina y nos quedamos a mitad del camino.

Miguel y Geraldine fueron a por él y nos recogieron por el camino, trayéndonos al Santuario y le dimos rápidamente su primer biberón. Desde el primer momento supimos que iba a ser muy travieso, porque su cara ya lo decía 🙂

Hoy te queremos pedir perdón por no haber podido llegar a tiempo para rescatar a tu madre y así también a tu hermano. Desde entonces sabemos que hay que actuar muy rápido, aunque a veces no se tengan las instalaciones preparadas por falta de medios económicos.

Gracias por este año que nos has regalado junto a ti, un año de muchas risas por tus travesuras, pero también de muchas preocupaciones, así que relájate un poquitín 😉

TODAY IS THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY SINCE DAVID’S ARRIVAL AT THE SANCTUARY

His mum was going to be sent to the slaughterhouse but we managed to persuade the farmer to wait a bit longer. We wanted to bring her to the Sanctuary but we needed to build a new fence first. Unfortunately, three days before the planned date of her arrival at the Sanctuary, she gave birth to David and his twin brother, who died during birth. His mum passed away a few hours later.

The farmer didn’t informed us about the events until the night of the following day. It was 4:00am when we rushed to pick David up. It was all so quick, and we were so concerned to save the poor orphan who hadn’t been fed yet, that we didn’t realise that our car was short of fuel so it let us down half the way through.

Miguel and Geraldine rescued David and picked us on the way. They brought us to the Sanctuary where we quickly fed him his first bottle. We just knew from the very first moment, upon seeing his face, that he would be a very mischievous kid.

David, we want to let you know how sorry we are for not being there on time to rescue your mother and your twin brother. It made us realise how important it is to act quickly, even though facilities are not ready due to the lack of financial resources.

Thanks for this year you have given us. A year full of laughter with your antics, but full of worries too, so try to relax a little bit!
