EL RESCATE DE GUILLEM Y RAMÓN
Esta es la experiencia de Felicidad, una de las activistas por los derechos animales que participó en el rescate de Guillem, Ramón y otra cerdita que murió al día siguiente por el mal estado en el que se encontraba:
«A la primera que vimos fue a la cerdita, que estaba dentro de una acequia. Nos lanzamos a la charca tres o cuatro personas. En la vida había visto a un cerdito tan de cerca, la pobre estaba muy asustada y cansada. Dentro de lo que cabe fue fácil cogerla, a pulso entre tres personas, y una vez arriba se quedó tumbada como diciendo: «hacedme lo que queráis» y le pusimos una mantita por encima porque la pobre estaba agotada.
Con Ramón y Guillem la cosa costó más. Iban los dos juntos dentro de la acequia. Uno de ellos era como el líder, a donde iba uno, iba el otro. Iban de un lado a otro de la acequia. Empezamos con el más «dócil», al que le pudimos poner una cuerda por el cuello. ¡Madre qué piel más delicada que tienen! pobrecitos… Y empezó a gritar como si lo estuviéramos matando, unos chillidos increíbles.
Todos juntos, como en Fuenteovejuna y al grito de » ¡¡¡vamosssss, arribaaaaa, pequeñoooooo!!!», lo pudimos sacar de la acequia. El pobre se cayó encima de mí y Carla, otra de las activistas, encima del cerdito. ¡¡Qué momento!!, era tan grande la emoción de haberlo sacado que no os podéis imaginar la sensación.
Se quedó también tumbado en la tierra y fuimos a por el otro. Éste era un poco más duro. Intentábamos lanzarle la cuerda al cuello, pero al final logramos echarle la cuerda en una pierna y pudimos lanzaros a su rescate. Gritaba igual de fuerte que su hermano y después de dos intentos, gritando para darnos fuerzas, conseguimos sacarlo también.
De mi mano se comió un trocito de manzana y casi me muero de la emoción. Una vez que descansaron, trajimos la furgoneta y empezó la odisea de meterlos dentro. Primero con la cerdita, que fue más fácil porque sólo fue cogerla entre cuatro y meterla dentro, pero con Guillem y con Ramón, hubo que andar hasta la furgoneta, que estaba más apartada para que no se quedase en ninguna zanja.
Una vez dentro, se quedaron muy pero que muy tranquilitos, como diciendo: ya estamos a salvo…
Una está al otro lado del Arcoiris. Y Ramón y Guillem están en un auténtico paraíso.»

GUILLEM AND RAMÓN RESCUE
This is Felicidad’s experience. She’s one of the animal rights activist who took part in the rescue of Guillem, Ramón and a sow who passed away the following day due to terrible state she was in:
«The little sow was the first one we saw. She was inside an irrigation canal. Three or four of us got into the pond. I had never seen a piglet so close. The poor little one was very frightened and tired. It was very easy to catch her by three people, given the circumstances. Once outside she just laid down as if by saying «do whatever you have to do», and we just covered her with a blanket because the poor girl was exhausted.
Things weren’t that easy with Ramón and Guillem. Both of them stood together in the canal. One of them acted as the leader, always followed by the other one, walking from one side of the canal to the other. We started with the most docile, to whom we could place a rope around his neck. Oh my god, what a delicate skin they have! poor babies… He started screaming as if we were killing him. His screams were incredible.
All at once, like in Fuenteovejune at the shout of: come on, up, little one!!!, we managed to get him out from the canal. The poor fellow fell on top of myself, and Carla, another activist, fell on top of the pig. What a moment!! The thrill of getting him out of the water was so big. He also stood lying down and we went for the other one. That one was a bit tougher. We tried to throw the rope around his neck, but we finally managed to throw the rope around one of his legs and we could jump to his rescue. He screamed as loudly as his brother. After two attempts, we managed to get him out too.
He ate a bit of apple from my hand, and I almost died, such was the thrill. Once they rested a little bit, we took the van to the scene and the odissey of getting them in started. First the sow. It was very easy as it was just carrying her among four people and placing her inside the van. With Guillem and Ramón, we had to walk to the van, which was a bit further away from the canals.
Once inside, they got very very quiet, as if by saying: we’re finally safe.
She crossed the rainbow, and Ramón and Guillem are now living in a true paradise.»
